Recently FloPlast donated a range of our Soil and Waste pipes for a very unique cause. A class of third year students completing a Mechanical Engineering Group Project Module at The Robert Gordon University, School of Engineering were challenged to design and build a fixed wing plastic land yacht. Morgan Adams, the Module Coordinator, had suggested that the students should use a variety of FloPlast products including ABS Solvent Weld pipes, fittings and solvent cement in order to construct their land yachts. Not only did the land yachts have to be built securely and functionally, they had to meet a deadline to be able to race across Aberdeen Beach against each other.
Morgan Adams commented, "FloPlast was my first port of call as I have previous experience of your small diameter tubing and fittings which have been used extensively for ROV MATE Challenge builds. Also I used FloPlast materials for my prototype land yacht build, as well as the range of solvent weld pipes and fittings. The quality of the products and competitive cost made FloPlast the prime material suppliers. Their support for this year’s project was excellent as they sponsored pipes and fittings to help the teams with the builds."
FloPlast would like to congratulate all the students involved on their creations, it looked like great fun! We would also like thank Morgan Adams and all who were involved at The Robert Gordon University for selecting FloPlast as their supplier for the project and wish you all the best in your future challenges.
